How To Install WordPress Plugins

In this arti­cle and video I’m going to show you how to take advan­tage of Word­Press 2.7’s enhanced func­tion­al­ity, and auto­mat­i­cally install plu­g­ins for your WordPress.org web­site. I also cre­ated a Video Tuto­r­ial that shows you how to Install your Plu­g­ins from the dashboard.

Why Use The DashBoard?

The rea­son we are going to use the dash­board to auto­mat­i­cally install our plu­g­ins, instead of going to Google and typ­ing in a name of a plu­gin, then search­ing through the results and find­ing the right plu­gin, then unzip­ping the plu­gin, and upload­ing the plu­gin, then acti­vat­ing (wow!), we just type in a name or tag, then click install.  It pains me to even read that last sen­tence, imag­ine hav­ing to con­stantly do it.

How To Eas­ily Install Plu­g­ins For WordPress

I cover this whole process in the video below, but to recap, here are the steps to install a plug-in using Word­Press 2.7 and up.

Login To Your Dash­board
Click Plu­g­ins
Scroll To The Bot­tom, Click Plu­gin Browser/Installer Type A Term or Tag (Stats) and Click Search Find A Plu­gin From The Search Results Click The Install Button

Type In Your FTP infor­ma­tion Click Proceed

Click Acti­vate You’re Finished!
